SUKA Chinese New Year – 27 January 2023 – A Review

SUKA Chinese New Year – 27 January 2023 – A Review

Hello SUKA family and friends,

SUKA hosted our Chinese New Year dinner at the Royal China Baker Street on Friday 27 January from 8pm to 1030pm where over 120 SUKA members and friends joined to enjoy a 10-course meal.

The event started with a welcome address by our President Anu Balamurali, followed by the Guest of Honour Cheryl Lee, the Deputy High Commissioner & Counsellor

Thereafter, guests enjoyed a toast of the “Lo Hei” (yu sheng) to mark the Chinese New Year in a Singaporean style. The Lion Dancers performed a dance around the venue, accompanied by drumbeats.

The SUKA Committee had a difficult time choosing the best dressed guests given that all had arrived well-dressed to the occasion.

Our Vice President Helena Lim-Poole performed the Chinese New Year classic song Gong Xi Gong Xi (恭喜) which the audience sang along to.

The event ended with two rounds of raffles, for which we are grateful to the Singapore Airlines, UOB, Pan Pacific, Rasa Sayang, Bank of Singapore, Lilian’s Kitchen, thermomix, Danube Construction and Golden House for their kind prize sponsorships.

We would like to thank the Royal China for hosting us too.

A huge thank you to all members who came for the event! Here is to a successful Year of the Rabbit ahead!

This event is supported by the Singapore Global Network – Connecting Singapore’s global network of family, friends and fans.
