SUKA Singapore National Day Fiesta – 5 August 2023 – A Review

Hello SUKA family and friends

Thank you to each and everyone of you who was part of celebrating Singapore’s 58th birthday!

We had 420 guests attending the fair. A big thank you to our supporters, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, donors, performer, venue, caterers, SGN, NUS, SYNC and UKSSC.

The day started with the fair which kicked off at 1030am. There were 17 exhibitors who were selling various Singaporean treats including classic hawker dishes and coffee. Our President Anu made pandan cakes for sale in one of the stalls.

Most of the proceeds of the fair will be donated to the Refuge charity. In the end, we raised £4,650 for Refuge.

The lunch started with a speech from Anu, followed by the High Commissioner who shared about the latest economic outlook in Singapore.

The attendees sang the National Anthem and we had cake cutting to mark Singapore’s 58th National Day.

Thereafter, the guests had a Singapore-themed buffet lunch catered by Rasa Sayang and were treated to a musical performance by Viveck Raam who sang Singapore National Day songs ‘Home’ and ‘Where I Belong’.

The best dressed award was a difficult one for our judges to assess given that many attendees had dressed well for the occasion.

The programme continued with a challenging Singapore-themed quiz, courtesy of Aparnaa and Russell who thoroughly tested the attendees’ knowledge about Singapore.

The event finished with our popular raffle draw where guests with raffle tickets stood a chance to win a whopping total of 29 prizes.

The SUKA Exco would like to make our special thanks to High Commissioner Mr Lim Thuan Kuan and Mrs Lim who graced the occasion with warmth and engaged until the very end with the guests.

Love,

Your SUKA Ex-Co
