SUKA Royal Opera House Tour – A Review
On 8th July 2022, SUKA organised a Platinum Jubilee tour for 19 members to the Royal Opera House. It was a hot day, the start of the heatwave in the UK. We enjoyed a hearty lunch at Rasa Sayang restaurant before a short walk to the Opera House.
During the tour, we learned about the changes in the auditorium through the years and saw the original chandelier in the Crush Room- where the late-coming audience members would sit.
One of the highlights was visiting the Queen Victoria’s lounge area behind the Royal Box. While some of our members have attended other tours at the Opera House covering the audition and backstage operations, the Royal Tour was unique as it covered the Royal Family’s love for the Opera House.
All in all, our members had an educational and enjoyable insight into the Royal experience at the Opera House.
