SUKA Christmas Event – 4 December 2022 – A Review

Hello SUKA family and friends,

For the first time, SUKA celebrated Christmas with a Shanghainese twist

It was a fabulous afternoon at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel Conservatory and the Kensington Suite where the event started with speeches from our President Anu and Guest of Honour from the Singapore High Commission.

Guests were treated to canapés and prosecco, followed by a 5 course Shanghai Grand inspired meal with crab meat melon soup and Drunken Chicken as starters, Chicken Dumplings and Seared Turbot as mains and a trio of Opera Cake, Mince Pie and Fresh Mango Cream with Sago Pearls and Pomelo as dessert.

Ella Chen and her band belted out popular Shanghainese ballads (including 月亮代表我的or the Moon Represents My Heart by Teresa Teng) in two parts which had some guests taking to the floor for a dance.

The Raffle draw as always was a main attraction with the Singapore Airlines return ticket, hotel stays at the Pan Pacific London and Millennium Gloucester Hotel London, Rasa Sayang voucher, a bottle of champagne courtesy of James Cowper Kreston, books from the World Scientific Publishing, online hypnotherapy session with Pop Brar, shopping vouchers from Zara, Selfridges, John Lewis and M&S as well as handmade linen shopping bag courtesy of Syebvonne Nguyen.

Our best dressed guests and quiz winners won prizes and we concluded with a chorus of 12 days of a Singaporean Christmas (lyrics enclosed within the gallery section).
