{"id":3752,"date":"2020-01-07T16:13:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T16:13:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/suka.org\/home\/?p=3752"},"modified":"2020-01-08T02:42:50","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T02:42:50","slug":"announcement-nominations-suka-2020-21-executive-committee-voting-instructions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/suka.org\/home\/announcement-nominations-suka-2020-21-executive-committee-voting-instructions\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcement of nominations for SUKA 2020\/21 Executive Committee and voting instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Member,<\/p>\n<p>Voting for a new Executive Committee for 2020 and 2021 (two-year term) will take place at SUKA&#8217;s next Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, 3 February 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nominations for the next committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 nominations were received (in the following order).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Radha Vijya Kumar as President plus team for Executive Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Sherry Myrna as President.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Please refer to the appendix 1 and 2 on the next pages for details of each nomination.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How should I vote?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nomination 1<\/p>\n<p>Vote for Radha as President and her team as a single vote.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination 2<\/p>\n<p>Vote for Sherry Myrna as President. He has an immense passion about Singapore, its unique culture and history. He will bring his \u2018youthful\u2019 passion with the aim modernising and rejuvenating SUKA\u2019s events and membership base.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Andrew (Member) \u2013 Andrew has worked in London in financial services for the past 3 years. He plays squash and softball and enjoys watching the NBA. He would like to volunteer at SUKA because he loves to give back to the community.\u00a0 He has been on the committee for NUS UK Alumni and carries experience of planning events for the Singaporean community in the UK.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Joanne (Member) &#8211; Joanne is in London due to her secondment with BOS Wealth Management S.A. UK Branch a subsidiary of Bank of Singapore. She has already been in London for approximately 1 year. A true-blue Singaporean with her Singlish, she hopes to bring Singaporeans closer to home via SUKA by being part of the committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Regu (Member) \u2013 Regu was born and raised in Singapore with Singaporean culture and traditions. Hence Singapore has always been very close to his heart no matter which part of the world he is in.<\/p>\n<p>He is a senior IT consultant working as an expat in the UK in the last four years. SUKA has given him the pleasure and opportunity to reconnect with fellow Singaporeans residing in the UK and he hopes he can get more Singaporeans to reconnect through SUKA.\u00a0 He would like to use his IT skills to help SUKA.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Adeline (Member) \u2013 Adeline has been serving on the SUKA Ex Co for many years in various roles and has a huge wealth of knowledge about SUKA.\u00a0 She has been in the UK for more than 40 years and live with her husband Anthony.\u00a0 She hopes her wealth of knowledge about SUKA will help the new team.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Aparnaa (Member) &#8211; Having grown up in Singapore it has always held a special place in her heart, and she is grateful to SUKA for bringing a taste of home to the UK and keeping the community spirit of Singapore alive.\u00a0 Aparnaa is a legal consultant working in the city of London. She hopes to share the joy that SUKA has brought to her with fellow young professionals and students, tap into a new demographic and watch our Singapore community in the UK continue to grow.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Zhi Yu (Student) \u2013 Zhi Yu has been on the SUKA Ex Co for the last two years and is happy to continue helping SUKA.\u00a0 He hopes to get more students to join SUKA and help organise student focussed events.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">Yong Zhi (Student) \u2013 A 1<sup>st<\/sup> year Finance student at LSE.\u00a0 He would like to help the Singaporean community in the UK while he is studying here.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\"><strong>Nominee(s) Plans for the future of SUKA:<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">As a team here are some of their aims:<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"636\">1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To organise a variety of events for all age groups along with the main cultural events.
